Shri Gurkaran Singh Bains IRS, is 2006 batch IRS officer. He is Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical from Punjab Technical University, Punjab and did his Masters in Strategic Management and Intellectual Property Rights from Japan. He has worked in Faridabad Central Excise as Asst. Commissioner, in the Drawback Division of CBIC as Technical Officer, in the Delhi Customs as Dy. Commissioner, as Addl. Director, in DGRI Ludhiana and as Addl. Commissioner in Jalandhar CGST. On his promotion, he has joined Cochin Custom House as Commissioner. He has also past experience having worked as Assistant Commandant in CRPF. He is an avid reader, trekker and enjoys weight training
